The Hyundai Creta EV has been launched recently, and while it now joins the Ioniq 5 EV in the EV portfolio of Hyundai, it doesn't look like that's it for the time being. A new mystery test mule has been spotted which is a 3-row EV, and with the silhouette hinting at a potential Alcazar EV. Hyundai Alcazar EV In Works?

Hyundai is broadening its electric vehicle lineup beyond the Creta EV and Ioniq 5, having been observed testing a new electric SUV, reportedly benchmarked against the BYD eMax7. This prototype, featuring a spacious cabin suggesting potential three-row seating and an upright design, has sparked interest due to its wheel design, reminiscent of the Kia EV9, hinting at shared underlying technology. The presence of Tamil Nadu test plates and a front-mounted charging port confirms its electric nature, where the speculation points to the possibility of this SUV being an electric adaptation of the Hyundai Alcazar, the seven-seater internal combustion engine version of the Creta, given their similar size and configuration.

While the test mule is heavily wrapped in dual layers of silver and black, it has been spotted at a charging station with a front-mounted charging socket, which, according to me, is a more convenient way to get about this. Apart from this, the silhouette is a tall boy stance, something that the Alacazar holds, and the reason why it oozes such resemblance. The rear section hints at a connected sleek light bar at the end, in line with the Creta EV recently launched.
Battery And Range Details

As of now, there are no more details regarding this mystery module that was spotted testing. However, Creta Electric comes with two battery pack options: a 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh pack, and the Alcazar EV could utilise the bigger battery option. It's expected to support DC fast charging upon its market debut, where the vehicle's estimated range is projected to be between 500 kilometers on a single charge.
Verdict
The future of electric mobility is starting to take shape in the four wheeler space and while we keep on adding new models to the mix, the adoption rate is still not where the brands go all in. Automakers are keeping a healthy ICE to EV ration in their portfolio and adapting as per the market demand, something which needs some ore push and better charging infra to handle large volumes of EV on the roads.
