Kia Carnival Official ARAI Mileage Figures Revealed

Kia has introduced the all-new 2024 Kia Carnival in India after discontinuation for a short while. While it retains the 2.2-litre diesel engine and 8-speed automatic transmission from the previous model, this MPV is now designed to be more fuel-efficient, boasting an ARAI-rated efficiency of 14.85 km/l. Unlike its predecessor, which featured a cast iron block engine, the new Carnival is equipped with a 2.2-litre aluminum block engine. This updated powertrain delivers 193 hp7 hp less than beforebut offers an additional 1 Nm of torque, bringing it to 441 Nm. Furthermore, it achieves a 0.95 km/l improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the outgoing model, which was rated at 13.9 km/l. With a 72-litre fuel tank, the new Carnival can potentially cover a maximum distance of 1,069 km on a full tank of diesel.

In terms of features, the new Carnival gets significantly revamped interiors, highlighted by a 12.3-inch HD instrument cluster and an HD infotainment touchscreen equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also includes an 11-inch head-up display, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and three-zone climate control. The front seats offer both heating and ventilation, while the second row boasts powered relaxation seats with similar amenities, plus additional leg support. Other enhancements include a powered tailgate, 64-color ambient lighting, shift-by-wire technology, and four driving modes. Both front seats provide power adjustments; the driver's seat features 12-way power adjustability with 4-way lumbar support and a memory function, while the front passenger seat has 8-way power adjustability.

As for safety, the new Carnival now features ADAS level 2 with features like adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, reverse parking collision avoidance assist, high-beam assist, and a few more.

Verdict

There's no doubt that the Carnival is a premium offering in its class with all the luxury amenties with a cocooned and cozy cabin feel. However, since it is a CBU unit, the pricing is now far higher than it used to be, and also feels steep when compared to other similar offerings in the market, which might not specifically be compared to the Carnivl now due to its rich sticker price. Notably, it is being offered in a single Limousine+ variant only.
