Mahindra Thar And XUV700 Facelift Details

The Thar 3-Door is expected to carry over a set of changes similar to the Thar Roxx, featuring a six-stack grille, C-shaped DRL patterns in the headlights and tail lights, and redesigned bumpers among a few other things. Mahindra cannot really change much in the Thar, as it has to keep it relevant and recognizable among loyalists.

The interiors will not see much of a change either, but we can expect things like the steering wheel, centre console, and the instrument cluster to changed, and we can also expect some feature additions such as a sunroof.

Meanwhile, the Mahindra XUV700 is expected to follow the XEV 9E and the BE 6 in terms of styling updates, featuring similar, sharp lighting elements, a smoother, cleaner profile, new alloy rims and an updated tailgate to name a few things.

Under the hood, however, is where we expect things to remain unchanged. The Thar and the XUV700 are likely to continue with the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel units, paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter. The Thar additionally also comes in a 4x2 variant, which also offers a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine option, but it does not get the option of an automatic transmission.

Verdict
The 3-door Thar and the XUV700 continue to be quite popular even 4-5 years after their launch. They do not really need a major revamp, but a minor refresh is what Mahindra is likely to give them, considering how instrumental it has been in keeping its cars relevant in the Indian market.
