Ola Electric

ola electric

With 24,336 units, Ola Electric has emerged as the highest-selling electric two-wheeler manufacturer in the first month of 2025. However, a closer look at the sales reports will reveal a slightly different picture. While the Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer witnessed a month-on-month growth of 76.72%, its yearly sales actually fell by 24.94%, having sold 32,424 units in January 2024.

However, Ola has still managed to come out on top as a result of the number of discounts that it offered over the last year. The manufacturer not only sold the S1 X at a price tag of Rs 69,999 for quite some time, it had also slashed prices of many other scooters in its lineup as well. Not to forget the numerous certain battery warranties and finance benefits.

Ola recently also launched its Gen 3 electric scooter lineup, along with its first production electric motorcycle, the Roadster X lineup.

TVS

TVS has come in second among electric two-wheeler makers, having sold 23,809 units in January 2025. The brand achieved a year-on-year growth of 55.03%, as it sold 15,358 units at the beginning of last year. Also compared to December 2024, TVS witnessed a month-on-month growth of 38.17%.

TVS continues to sell the iQube electric scooter, and according to reports, it has also resumed deliveries of the X electric scooter as well. The brand had also showcased the Vision iQube concept at the 2025 Auto Expo, which could well be the direction TVS heads into for the next-generation of the iQube electric scooter.

Bajaj

Coming in at third place is Bajaj, having sold 21,310 units in January 2025. The Pune-based two-wheeler manufacturer witnessed a year-on-year growth of 95.67%, as it sold just 10,891 units in January 2024. It also saw a month-on-month growth of 16.44%, having sold 18,392 units in December 2024.

This increase can likely be attributed to the introduction of TecPac on the Chetak, which gives it important features like a 5-inch TFT screen with smartphone connectivity, navigation, call/SMS alerts, music streaming. Additionally, Bajaj also launched the new Chetak 35 Series, which saw one important change; the battery pack got moved from near the motor to under the floorboard. This move also liberated underseat storage space, expanding it to 35 litres. The addition of features such as follow-me headlamps, Google Maps integration and ride modes could have also played an important role.

Ather Energy

Verdict

There is plenty of action to be expected on the electric two-wheeler front, with Ola, Bajaj, TVS and Ather being in close competition. Honda and Suzuki too have now joined in with the Activa:e, QC1, and the e-Access respectively. Hero too is slowly ramping up proceedings with the Vida electric sub-brand. We can expect an interesting battle in the coming months.
