A few weeks ago, the new-gen Verna was introduced in India by Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL). The company has introduced the car, with prices ranging from Rs 10.90 lakh to Rs 17.38 lakh (ex-showroom). The new-generation Verna includes two petrol engine choices, a Level 2 ADAS, an entirely new look, and a variety of features. The 2023 Hyundai Verna competes in this price bracket with other mid-size cars including the Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. It also faces competition from some of the SUVs sold in a similar price range. Here are some of Hyundai Verna alternatives you can purchase at the same price range.

Skoda Slavia
In India, the Czech automaker's Slavia has become a popular model. The Slavia is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform that the company developed especially for India. A 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and one 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine are available for the sedan. Six-speed manual, automatic, and seven-speed DSG transmissions are available with the engines. The Slavia is a capable rival to the 2023 Verna due to the variety of features it possesses. Yet, the Verna has an advantage over the Slavia as it has ADAS. Pricing for the Skoda Slavia ranges from Rs. 11.39 lakh to Rs. 18.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
Volkswagen Virtus
VW Virtus is a fantastic product that the automaker has produced for the Indian market. The Slavia and the Virtus share the same underpinning. The look and feature offerings of Virtus are different, however the majority of the features in both sedans are comparable. Both a 1.0-liter and a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine are offered with the Virtus. The Virtus is priced by VW between Rs. 11.48 lakh and Rs. 18.57 lakh (ex-showroom).

Honda City
Honda recently made an update for the fifth-generation City. Some minor cosmetic and feature updates have been made with the new update. Also, the brand has expanded its portfolio of City's NA engine and hybrid engine models.The 1.5-liter NA petrol engine and a manual or CVT gearbox is one of the powertrain options and the other one is a 1.5-liter powerful hybrid petrol engine. The availability of a hybrid powertrain gives the Honda City an advantage over the Hyundai Verna. The 2023 Honda City costs between Rs. 11.49 lakh to Rs. 20.39 lakh (ex-showroom).
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz
One of the most reasonably priced mid-size sedans in India is the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. It has a 1.5-liter NA petrol engine mated with a 5-speed manual and automatic transmission. Comparing the Ciaz to the other names on the list, it is one of the models with the fewest features. Prices for the Ciaz begin at Rs. 9.30 lakh and go as high as Rs. 12.29 lakh (ex-showroom), making it also less expensive than the Verna. The base variant of the Ciaz is Rs 1.6 lakh less expensive than the Verna.
