After the stricter BS6 Phase 2 norms come into effect from April 2023, the Skoda Octavia will be discounted in the Indian market. The low-slung sedan is priced in the range of Rs. 27.25 lakh to Rs. 30.45 lakh (ex-showroom). However, we have good new for German car fans as Skoda India will reintroduce the popular nameplate in the form of the Octavia RS iV Plug-in Hybrid in 2023. Everything you need to know about the upcoming sedan is covered in this article.
Skoda Octavia RS iV: Exterior design and Interiors
The Octavia RS iV made its international debut back in 2020, on the occasion of the Skoda RS performance division's 20th Anniversary. Based on the latest 4th generation of standard Octavia, it features some sporty design upgrades over its regular counterpart. Some of the major styling tweaks include a more aggressive front profile supported by a blacked-out grille, all-LED headlamps with inverted L-shaped DRLs and a sleeker front bumper. The squared-off wheel arches and a sporty set of alloy wheels along with sharp character lines complete the side profile. At the rear, the subtle black boot lip spoiler, prominent skid plate and dual muffler design lend the sedan a sporty appeal.
As sporty on the outside, Skoda has left no stone unturned to carry the same appeal on the inside. The red accents spread all across the cabin along with the flat bottom seeing wheel, sporty pedals, a fully digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch infotainment display gives the sedan a sporty yet premium appeal.
Skoda Octavia RS iV: Powertrain
The highlight of the Skoda Octavia RS iV lies in its powertrain setup. The low-slung sedan is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine that puts out 150 bhp, mated with a 116 bhp eclectic motor. The combined power output from the system stands at 245 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque. The electric motor draws power from a 13 kWh battery pack and it provides enough charge to do 60 kilometres in EV mode. The 7-speed DCT unit handles the transmission duties on the sporty sedan. The Octavia RS iV can achieve a top speed of 225 kmph, while the 0-100 kmph timing stands at 7.3 seconds.

Verdict: Once launched, the Skoda Octavia RS iV will be the first plug-in hybrid offering from the German carmaker in India. It will be rejoicing for the enthusiasts who missed the Octavia vRS. The low-slung sedan will be sold in the country via the CBU route, thereby limiting its number to just 2500 units per year. Skoda will most likely price the four-wheeler around the Rs. 40 lakh price bracket.
