Tata Altroz Facelift: A Punch Above

The 2025 Tata Altroz facelift carries forward the familiar silhouette of its predecessor but gets a notable design makeover. Key updates include all-LED headlights with sleek eyebrow-style DRLs, a reworked front grille sporting the Tata monogram, and a redesigned front bumper for a more modern appearance. One standout feature is the addition of segment-first flush-fitting door handles, adding to its premium feel, and not to forget the single pane sunroof that adds an airy feel to the cabin, making it a good-looking premium hatch.

The updated Tata Altroz offers a more refined and upmarket cabin, designed to enhance comfort and appeal. It now sports a fresh dual-tone interior, better seat padding, rear adjustable headrests, a rear armrest with cupholders, and a flat-bottom steering wheel with backlit controls, making it more inviting for everyday drives and longer trips alike. On the tech front, it sees a significant upgrade with a new 10.25-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside a crisp 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with built-in navigation. It also includes modern conveniences like wireless charging, Tata's iRA connected tech, touch-based auto climate control, cruise control, electric ORVMs, and a sunroof.

Safety has been stepped up too, with six airbags standard, a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and 3-point seatbelts for all seats, positioning the Altroz as a smarter and safer premium hatchback. Not to forget that the crash test video of the Altroz was released by the brand, which hints at a full house of 5 stars in the Bharat NCAP tests.

Powertrain

The 2025 Tata Altroz facelift continues with the same engine lineup as before, offering options suited for different driving needs. Buyers can choose from a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (88 PS/115 Nm), which now comes with the choice of a 5-speed manual, a new 5-speed AMT, or a 6-speed DCT, depending on the variant. There's also a more economical 1.2-litre petrol-CNG variant delivering 73.5 PS and 103 Nm, available only with a 5-speed manual. For those looking for a torquey feel and fuel efficiency, the 1.5-litre diesel engine remains in the range, producing 90 PS and 200 Nm, also paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Verdict
Tata Altroz has leveled up, not just its game, but also the segment and how it is shaping up the rivalry to a whole new form. It is more improtant to reiterate the fact that the diverse powertrain that the Altroz offers, including a petrol, petrol+CNG, and the last of its kind, a diesel mill as well. With a CNG AMT now coming in the next couple of months, it would be interesting to see how it will cannibalise into the sales of other contenders in the segment.
