Tata Curvv Dark Edition: Images Leaked

The Tata Curvv Dark Edition is inching closer to its launch, and while it takes its time, the images of the same have already leaked online, revealing the changes, or the lack of it, in black and white. For starters, the exterior no comes draped in an all-black glossy paint job, with all the elements now covered in black. While the front defender gets a Dark badging, notably, there seem to be no red elements, ruling out the Red Dark theme.

Based on the top-spec Accomplished variant, the Dark edition retains the same design, the alloys, and the overall styling, with the distinction just being the blacked out persona. As for the interiors, it again gets an all-black treatment right from the dashboard, centre console, the door trims, and the leather upholstery.

The feature list will remain the same on which the dark edition will be based, while offering modern features like wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, Level-2 ADAS, six airbags, ABS with EBD, premium sound system, digital instrument cluster, and a lot more. The crux of all this is that this is going to be purely a cosmetic play, with no tweaks to the equipment or the mechanics list.

Powertrain Options

The Tata Curvv Dark Edition will offer the same set of options as the regular variants. You get the option for a 1.5L diesel mill that churns out 116bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque. For those looking for an extended validity of 15 years in the NCR, can go for the 1.2L turbo petrol unit, good for 118 bhp of power and 170Nm of torque.
Verdict
Tata has this ritual of going all black and that too comes at a price premium. While the numbers are limited and so you wont be having them too much on the roads. Going by the sales number, the Safari and Harrier have not lived up to the expectations, while the Curvv has also somewhat flatlined after the nascent craze for coupe SUVs phased away. Can the Dark Edition help revive the sales? We will have to wait for that.
