Tata Harrier EV Spied Testing In Near Production Form
Tata Motors, one of India's leading automakers and a dominant player in the SUV segment is preparing to launch an electric version of its flagship Harrier and Safari SUVs. Recent spy shots reveal a near-production test mule of the Harrier EV, featuring a rear electric motor and an advanced multi-link independent suspension. While the vehicle was heavily camouflaged, offering little insight into its exterior design, it closely resembles the internal combustion engine (ICE) Harrier. Expect the Harrier EV to showcase design differences, such as a new front bumper with a closed-off grille, marking its distinction as an electric vehicle while retaining the familiar Harrier styling.
The Tata Harrier EV is expected to feature a design and interior layout largely similar to its ICE counterpart. Key elements such as the dashboard, steering wheel, center console, and door trims will remain largely unchanged. However, the Harrier EV will come with some notable upgrades, including a bigger touchscreen infotainment system. Additional features will include a voice-controlled panoramic sunroof with mood lighting, an illuminated logo on the steering wheel, persona-themed interiors, a newly designed central console, and more.

Battery And Range Details
Details about the battery capacity of the Tata Harrier EV are still limited, but it is confirmed to feature an all-wheel-drive (AWD) option with a dual motor set-up, something not available in the ICE version. This AWD configuration could give the Harrier EV an edge over its petrol and diesel variants. It is expected that the Harrier EV will be equipped with a 60-80 kWh battery pack, offering an estimated driving range of up to 500 km on a full charge.
It is expected that the Harrier EV could be showcased at the Auto Expo in January 2025 with a launch soon after that. As for the pricing, I think that the brand will position it somewhere around Rs. 18-20 lakhs ex-showroom starting price.
