Tata Harrier Gets New OTA Update To Improve ADAS Capabilities
The updated Tata Harrier and the Safari SUVs offered a ton of modern features and the ADAS was one of the most talked about. While it offered a comprehensive suit, it missed out on a few features, like the ones that have just been added via an OTA update to the Harrier. As per Prachit Patil in his post on the Tata Harrier Owners Club Of India Facebook group, the Tata Harrier owner has recently received an over-the-air (OTA) update that introduces Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Adaptive Steering Assist (ASA) features with improvements to the vehicle's ECU, FCM, and infotainment system as part of the update.
The infotainment system's version 15.18 will display animations and graphics to visualize the LKA and ASA functions in action for a complete and comprehensive addition to the suite. A super the owner, the recent OTA update took roughly an hour to install. Thankfully, Patil reported no errors on the infotainment system or instrument cluster after the update. As the Harrier and its three-row sibling, the Safari, share a similar platform, it's likely the Safari will receive the same update, bringing LKA and ASA functionalities soon to keep it at par with the Harrier.

Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic, with claimed fuel efficiencies of 16.8 kmpl and 14.6 kmpl, respectively. However, a petrol mill is also in consideration and is highly likely to be introduced in the first half of 2025.
Verdict
The update to improve the ADAS suite is a welcome move as it now unlocks the hidden potnetial of the assistive feature. While these are present just for assistance and you should be aware of the surroundings, the lane keep assist and steering assist will make sure no accidental errors creep in. For the Safari owners, keep looking out for an update as it is likely that the 7-seater SUV is also going to get this update soon.
