- Currently, for private users, Tata Motors has Nexon EV Prime, Tiago EV, Nexon EV Max and Tigor EV
- Focusing on the mass market and introducing budget EVs helped the carmaker achieve this production milestone in just a few years
- Tata plans to bring more EVs into the market soon
Tata Motors has done it again. This time the Indian carmaker has sold 50000 EVs in India, which is a significant number. Their line-up includes Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max. It is the Nexon EV that has contributed to most sales and then there is a fleet model which includes X-Pres-T as well.
The 50,000th unit was Nexon EV in Glacier White. Tata sells Nexon EV in two forms - Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max. The latter is the one if you're looking for long-distance journeys and want more performance. This one gets a 40.5 kWh battery pack that belts out 141 bhp of power with a peak torque of 250 Nm. It gets a certified driving range of 437 km.

The Nexon EV Prime gets a smaller battery pack of 30.2 kWh. It produces 127 bhp of power with a peak torque of 245 Nm. The certified driving range here sticks only to 312 km and in real-world driving conditions, we can expect 230 km to 250 km.
The carmaker also launched the most affordable EV in the country a while back. The Tiago EV is priced from Rs 8.49 lakh to Rs 11.79 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It is the real-deal if you're thinking to switch to EVs considering the high cost of petrol and diesel.
Tiago EV is available with two battery packs - 19.2kWh and 24 kWh. It is the latter which is most in demand and the carmaker will be prioritising this first. The 24kWh battery pack gets an MIDC driving range of 315 km while the 19.2kWh one gets 250 km. This electric hatchback is loaded with features up to the brim and bookings for the same can be done across all Tata dealerships in the country.

Sharing an update on Tigor EV then it gets a 26 kWh battery pack that makes 74 bhp of power with a peak torque of 170 Nm. However, we expect Tata to re-introduce the Tigor EV in the market with more features and an enhanced battery pack. After all, this EV sits above Tiago EV.
Verdict
Focusing on the mass market EVs led Tata Motors to rapidly reach the 50,000th production mark. In the coming future, we can also expect Altroz EV, Punch EV, Sierra EV and Curvv EV. The timeline for all these is not yet out but we do expect the carmaker to bring the Altroz EV by next year. It will be the only premium hatchback to be available in all three forms - petrol, diesel and EV.
