Skoda Kylaq: First Unit Rolls Out
The Kylaq is a significant car for Skoda India for many reasons. It marks the return of Skoda into the sub-4m segment, with the Fabia hatchback discontinued many years ago. The Kylaq will also be responsible for drawing newer audiences into Skoda showrooms. More specifically, it will help Skoda penetrate into Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, and also be a new entry point for buyers looking to own their first Skoda.
Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO, `koda Auto Volkswagen India, said, Were thrilled to begin production of `koda Auto Indias first sub-4-meter SUV. Congratulations to the entire team on the successful start of production. The Kylaq is engineered and developed in India to cater to the evolving requirements of Indian customers. By manufacturing the Kylaq locally, we proudly support the Make-in-India initiative, maintaining Groups DNA of delivering safety, comfort and driving dynamics. It was heartening to see the positive reception it received at the World Premiere last month, and I am confident that the Kylaq will truly resonate with the Indian car buyers.
Skoda India says it has ramped up production at its Chakan plant by 30%, with a capacity of 255,000 units annually. Additionally, the car maker is also expanding its sales and service network, as it plans to open 350 units across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities by 2025.
