The French manufacturer, Renault recently launched an affordable 7-seater in the form of Triber. The car is based on the CMF-A platform is currently the most affordable vehicle in the segment and it is getting a decent response in the market too.
Soon, the brand will launch a range of all-new vehicles following a similar strategy in the Indian market. Renault is currently working on the HBC sub-4m compact SUV that will take on the Vitara Brezza in the Indian market. After the launch of the HBC, Renault will bring in an all-new sedan that will take on the likes of Dzire, Xcent and Aspire.
The all-new Dzire became the best-selling vehicle in the Indian market suggesting that the customers are shifting their preference from the entry-level cars like the Alto. The new sedan from Renault will be based on the same CMF-A+ platform that also underpins the Triber.
The new sedan is codenamed as LBA and it is expected to be ready by 2022. The first appearance of the vehicle is expected to be at the 2022 Auto Expo. The car will offer a similar design as the Renault Kwid and the Triber. Also, the cabin is expected to be similar to the Triber to reduce the cost of the vehicle.
Renault is yet to confirm the engine options that will power the upcoming vehicles like the HBC and the LBA. However, the sedan may get powered by the same 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine that powers the Triber at the moment.
It will be only available with a petrol engine and both manual and automatic transmission options will be available in the car. The HBC SUV is expected to get a more powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will offer a higher power.
Both the cars will be priced aggressively and are likely to become the most affordable offerings in the segment, which will attract a lot of customers. The manufacturer will focus on affordable cars in the future and is expected to increase the market share in the coming years. Renault will also launch their first-ever electric car in the form of Kwid EV in the coming months.
