Skoda Compact SUV: Deviating From The Usual
The test mule of the upcoming Skoda Compact SUV was papped rolling on roads under heavy camo. However, observing it a little closely it looks like Skoda is shedding its solid body crease lines for a more smoother side profile. This makes its production a little simpler and keeps its costs and repairs a bit more economical. Not only this, you can clearly see a good enough sized quarter glass on the rear door that will give you that airy feeling in the second row.
The front is adorned with the typical Skoda design philosophy including a split headlamp unit and the typical Skoda grille. Meanwhile, the form factor is now visibly smaller than the Skoda Kushaq, making it sit perfectly below the threshold limit of 4 meters. And this means only one thing. It will be facing tough heat from the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, and the Hyundai Venue.
The rear can be seen with a c-shaped tail lamp unit with a probable connected light beam, which seems to be standard with all the new launches seen in the recent past. Additionally, talking about the interior, while they have not been captured until now, expect it to be plush and brimmed up with features. Expected amenities include a fully digital TFT instrument cluster, an expanded infotainment screen, wireless charging capability, premium speakers, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), among others

Powertrain
Skoda's upcoming compact SUV, set for release in first quarter of 2025, gets a sturdy 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This petrol mill is capable of producing 115hp and 178Nm of torque. Meanwhile, this engine will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
It is expected to be priced around the range of Rs. 8 lakhs-12 lakhs. Interestingly, out of the 10 shortlisted monikers, its name has not been finalized yet.
Meanwhile, in this comprehensive video, you can check out the performance of this 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that we tested on the Kushaq.
Verdict
The Skoda compact SUV when launched, will be subjected to a highly contested space for the top spot.
