Yamaha Motor India has announced the entry of the new Aerox 155 maxi-scooter in India at Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). The new scooter carries technology from its R15 V4 (Rs 1.68 lakh, ex-showroom, pan India_ bike but costs a lot lesser.

Yamaha Aerox 155 comes with segment-first features and tech innovations. The new 155cc 4-stroke, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine should offer a smooth acceleration with exhilarating power and improved reliability. In fact, it has the same engine as the R15, albeit, in a lower state of tune offering maximum power of 15 PS and a peak torque of 13.9 Nm.

Under the umbrella of The Call of the Blue Campaign, Yamaha has launched several exciting products in the Motorcycle and Scooter category. The Aerox 155 is an important addition to this line-up as it has been developed on the lines of Yamahas R DNA. The Aerox 155 will provide a new and exciting riding experience with high performance, comfort & convenience to Indian customers. I am confident that the Aerox 155 will be well accepted by our customers and it will create a new Maxi Sports Scooter segment in India," said Motofumi Shitara, Chairman of the Yamaha Motors India.

The motor benefits from a Variable Valve Actuation, a system that adjusts the fuel intake according to the rpm. It gives decent torque at lower engine speeds and more power at higher engine speeds. It is also equipped with a Smart Motor Generator system which eliminates the need for a separate conventional starter.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 carries wide tyres at both ends and offers a riding position that gives a feel of riding a motorcycle. It has a 5.5-litre fuel tank and optimised dimensions for high agility. It also has a decent storage space of 24.5-litres that can fit in one full-size faced helmet inside it. Aerox carries convenient handlebar switch controls, electric power socket, and digital instrument panel.
Yamaha has also introduced Y-Connect technology which is the latest innovation to keep its customers connected to their scooters or bikes thru their smartphones. The enhanced digital instrument cluster displays all notifications received in the connected smartphone. To add a sporty appearance to the scooter, Yamaha has placed the rpm bars on both sides of the cluster.
The new maxi-Scooter will be available by the end of this month at all Yamahas Blue Square showrooms. It will come with two colour choices, Grey Vermillion, and Racing Blue. Yamaha MotoGP Edition will also be on offer as an addition to the standard colours.
Yamaha Aerox is available in two variants - Std and S. The S model comes with first-in-segment features like Smart Key System which lets you start the scooter with a keyless ignition at just a push of a button.
