Why Electric Scooter ?
Pros & Cons of Vida V1
Vida V1 Detailed Review
This is Hero’s first electric scooter and they do want to grab eyeballs. The Vida does look sporty enough for an EV. Up front, the talking point here are the DRLs or daytime running lights. They do look stylish and compliment the sporty little flyscreen that sits above the handlebar. Side profile showcases the 12-inch alloy wheels as well as the curvy theme for the body panels. Tyre size stands at 90mm for the front and 100mm for the rear. The floor board is also big enough for large shoe sizes. At the back, you notice the same DRL design language for the tail lamp and smartly designed grab handle. The interesting thing here is that the rear seat can be removed along with a body panel and you can use the Vida as a single seat scooter. At the rear, you can then attach a utility or storage box for added practicality. The Hero Vida V1 comes with a ground clearance of 155mm which is acceptable for the segment. Electric scooters are generally heavy due to the battery pack and in this case also, the Vida V1 tips the scales at 125 kg. The fit and finish of panels and quality of plastics is pretty good and up there with the rest of the rivals

Hero sells the Vida V1 in two versions of Pro and Plus. Vida V1 Plus and V1 Pro both are equipped with a plethora of features. Both scooters feature a touchscreen instrument cluster with a plethora of information available. Also, both scooters get three riding modes: Eco, Ride, and Sports. The two-way throttle on the Vida V1 also engages in reverse mode. Both scooters also get LED lighting, portable batteries, cruise control, keyless start-stop operation, navigation, telematics, disc brakes, alloy wheels, and other features. The Vida V1's custom mode, which offers 100 configurations and lets the rider adjust the peak speed, acceleration, regen, and other factors to fit his or her preferences, is one of the leading features in the industry. Also, both scooters get a similar charger and charging ports. As explained before, you can remove the rear seat for extra storage space. The scooter also offers LED headlamps and LED DRLs.

The battery pack of the Vida differs as per the model you pick. While the V1 Pro comes with a 3.44 kWh battery pack, the V1 Plus gets a larger 3.94 kWh unit. This also means the certified range is different. The Pro is rated at 143km and the Plus will go as much as 165km on a single charge. Both the models support fast charging with which the battery pack can be charged from 0-80% in just over one hour. The electric motor produces 5.3 bhp of continous power and 25 Nm of torque. In comparison, the Ola S1 Pro offers much better output and performance. Hero claims the Vida will accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and will go on to hit about 82 km/h on the speedometer. While acceleration is brisk, top speed is limited as compare the S1 Pro. The scooter gets three riding modes and reverse assist from the motor - very helpful for newbies. The throttle can be reverse twisted to further engage a higher level of regen - this helps charge back the batteries by a small margin.

Top Speed | 80 kmph |
Power | 6000 W |
Torque | 25 Nm |

We rode the scooter at Hero’s R&D centre outside of Jaipur. The test track gave us a quick understanding of the scooter. The 12 inch wheels do help to give this a confident stance at 80 km/h. And yet the small wheelbase of 1301mm makes it agile enough that will be of use in traffic. The test track had fair number of tight turns and curves and the Vida V1 turned out to be a fun little scooter. The front disc does the job well too. We will reserve our judgement on the ride quality as the test track was smooth without any undulations or broken tarmac. That said, the seat felt comfortable and the riding ergonomics seemed right on spot. Overall its fair to say the Vida V1 offers a good balance ride. However, at 780mm, the seat height could be a problem for short riders.
