New Hero Vida Electric Scooter: Low-Cost V1?
As seen in the design patent image, this new e-scooter seems to be based on the Vida V1 platform. The design cues are also identical like the front panels and the cowl. However, the headlight has X-design LED DRLs that look similar to the Xoom 110. Moreover, the large single seat has a large pillion grab rail. The side panels are also chiselled and look plain. The large size indicates that the boot space and practicality will be focused on it.
The design image doesn't reveal the rear profile. But, the anticipation is that it'll be identical to some extent with the V1 Pro. The patented model also has alloy wheels with a 12-inch front wheel profile (expected). The front brake is a disc while the rear is a drum setup. Feature-wise, it might get an LCD screen with Bluetooth connectivity. Features like geo-fencing, Google Maps, etc., will not be equipped on it.
If the platform is shared with the Vida V1, we expect the battery size will also be similar. The V1 comes with a 6kW electric motor that offers a range of 100 km per charge. Being a family-oriented scooter, it can exceed the range of the V1 itself. The performance will not be as quick as the V1. Hardware includes telescopic front suspension and spring-type shockers at the rear.
Rivals like the Ola S1 Air and Ather 450S offer a low-cost version of fast e-scooters suited for families. The upcoming scooter will fall in the same price range of around Rs 1 lakh. Hero can possibly launch it in the second quarter of this year.
Verdict
Hero's Vida tried an attempt on the same market but couldn't succeed due to its premium pricing. This upcoming scooter can change the scenario for Hero Vida with its practicality and family-friendly nature. Tell us in the comments about your thoughts on this upcoming e-scooter.
