Kawasaki KLX 230

Last Updated on 7th Oct'24: The Kawasaki KLX 230 S is a dual-sport motorcycle.It is expected to launch in India under Rs. 2 lakh (ex-showroom).The KLX 230 S will be the brand’s third localised product after the Ninja 300 and W175. It sources its power from a 233cc, single-cylinder, air cooled engine that produces 20 bhp of power and 17 Nm of torque. Once launched, the dual-sport motorycle will primarily compete with the Hero Xpulse 200 4V and the upcoming Xpulse 210.

Recently, a test mule of the Kawasaki KLX 230 dual-sport motorcycle was spotted on a test on Indian roads. The test mule seems road-legal as it was fitted with a saree guard and a front number plate. Kawasaki may launch the KLX 230 in the Indian market by the end of this year or in 2025. 

Engine: The international spec Kawasaki KLX 230 will be powered by a 233cc, air-cooled engine. This engine produces 19 PS of power and 19.8 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. 

Features & Hardware: On the features front, the motorcycle is not equipped with fancy features but it gets some necessary ones. It gets dual-channel ABS, a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity among other things. Hardware-wise the motorcycle gets telescopic front forks, and a mono shock absorber at the back. Braking duties are done by 240 mm front and 220 mm rear disc brakes.

Launch & Pricing: As of now the brand has not said anything about the launch, but the spotting of the test mule indicates that the India-spec model is on the cards and expected to be launched by year-end. Pricing is expected to be in the range of Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom).
