<p>This is Lexus&rsquo; flagship model for the Indian market. The LX500d is offered with a diesel engine only, comes in a 5-seater configuration and is imported into India as an entirely built unit. Given the premium price tag, there is no direct rival in India. The Lexus LX500d remains in extremely high demand and is the last word in XXXL size super luxury SUV space. This SUV is what the cream layer of car buyers want in the country.</p>

	<div>&nbsp;Although this is a new-generation model, it still carries many old-school design cues. Given its enormous size and dimensions, the LX500d has a lot of street cred</div>

	<div>The LX500d has the biggest wheels ever since on a Lexus product. At 22-inch, these are massive and fill the wheel arches very well. Tyre size stands at 265/50 R22.</div>
	</li>

	<div>An XXL-sized grille dominates the front end - it&#39;s so huge that it can put to shame modern-day BMW grilles, too.</div>

	<div>The long and high bonnet adds muscle to the stance of the LX. This part of the SUV looks nice and very American-ish.&nbsp;</div>

	<div>All four doors have in-built sensors for the key fob - you can unlock / lock the car via any of the doors. These also have the soft close function</div>

	<div>This is a rare engine in India : a creamy V6 turbo diesel unit on offer, paired to a 10 speed automatic gearbox. Max power is 409 PS and peak torque is 700 Nm.&nbsp;</div>

	<div>Although smaller in engine capacity than the previous V8 motor, the 3300cc unit offers more power and higher torque. These are delivered across a wider range of engine speeds for powerful, linear acceleration.&nbsp;</div>
	</li>

	<div>Power can go to all the four wheels and there is proper, hard-core 4x4 hardware on offer. You can raise the suspension and hit the toughest of 4x4 trails around</div>
	</li>

	<div>The engine is extremely refined and NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) levels excellent. The diesel engine is barely audible for rear seat passengers.&nbsp;</div>

	<div>In daily driving in flowing traffic, the Lexus LX500d will offer fuel economy of 7-9 kmpl. Out on open roads, mileage increases to 10kmpl between 90-100 km/h.</div>

The 3300cc V6 (6 cylinder) twin turbo diesel engine offers 409 bhp of power and 700 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox 

The new generation Lexus LX500d is 200kg lighter than the previous model due to high usage of aluminium. This helps improve performance and efficiency

The new LX500d comes with a fingerprint sensor installed in the center of the push button start. The engine will not start unless the fingerprint information matches, reducing the risk of theft

Sitting under the infotainment screen is the 17.78cm driver dynamic control touch display. It can be used for various functions including climate control (front & rear) as well as driving related information. 

The 2nd row of seats in the Lexus LX500d are ventilated. These also feature a power slide function

The ride height of the Lexus LX500d is adjustable in four steps. These incude L (low), N (neutral), H1 (high 1) and H2 (high 2). The last two are very useful while driving off the road in extreme situations. 

Cameras all around the LX500d give you a 360 view of what is happening. Further, the HUD or head up display imparts a lot of information at the driver’s eye level. 

Road presence : the LX is XXXL sized and looks enormous

Overall comfort levels - huge seats, good ride quality

Way too expensive : you can purchase two Mercedes GLS for the price

No third row of seats : most rivals offer this at half the price

Limited 2nd row space : given this is a 2 row SUV, we expected more space in the 2nd row

Surprise omission of features - example, no powered rear window curtain, no panoramic sunroof etc

Limited network as compared to German rivals
