The Volkswagen Tayron successfully offers you German engineering with the practicality expected of a premium family SUV. Whether you choose the value-focused Life or the sportier, better-equipped R-Line, both deliver strong performance from the 2.0-litre TSI engine, a refined ride, and excellent high-speed stability. The cabin feels solidly built, packed with technology, and offers generous space for passengers and luggage. While the third row is best reserved for occasional use and pricing is on the premium side, the Tayron impresses with its overall polish. It is among the most complete premium SUVs in its segment.

Pros & Cons of Tayron R-Line

What we admire in this car

The 2.0 TSI turbo petrol engine is a hoot to drive. Powerful and torquey

Tayron offers a very feature rich cabin - large screens, ADAS suite, premium audio

We love the styling with R-Line treatment and great 19-inch alloy wheels

Pricing is good - only Rs 1 lakh over the smaller 5-seater Tiguan.

The 19-inch wheels do not rob the car of a decent ride. Plus great high speed manners

This is one of the safest cars in the segment and offers Level 2 ADAS and 9 airbags

Should I buy the Tayron R-Line?

The Volkswagen Tayron is an excellent choice if you want a premium SUV that offers refinement, driving dynamics, and everyday practicality. The Life variant offers the essentials with a capable powertrain and AWD system, while the R-Line adds a more feature-rich cabin along with the extra third row. Both deliver impressive ride comfort, strong performance, and the solid build quality expected from a Volkswagen. Although pricing is on the premium side and the third row is best suited for occasional use, the Tayron remains a solid alternative to traditional ladder-frame SUVs for urban family buyers.

The cabin feels thoroughly modern, dominated by a large 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers crisp graphics and seamless connectivity for an intuitive user experience. It serves as the central hub for most vehicle functions. For the lower Life trim, this size shrinks to 12.9 inches.
Ahead of the driver sits a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster that provides customizable layouts for navigation, media, and driving information. The display is sharp and easy to read at all times.
Comfort is enhanced with a 3-zone climate control system that allows the driver, front passenger, and rear occupants to set individual temperatures. This ensures a pleasant environment for everyone on board.
A panoramic sunroof stretches across the roof, flooding the cabin with natural light and creating an airy, spacious feel. It significantly elevates the premium ambience.
The front seats offer 12-way power adjustment along with memory, massage, and ventilation functions. These features provide excellent comfort and support, especially on longer journeys.
Premium leatherette upholstery wraps the seats, adding a sophisticated touch to the interior. The material is both durable and easy to maintain.
The mood inside the cabin can be customized with 30-colour ambient lighting that enhances the overall atmosphere, particularly during night drives.
