JSW MG Motor India has updated the Shine (2nd) variant of the Astor, and now, it has become the most value-for-money variant of this compact SUV. This is the second variant in the lineup and it costs Rs 12.47 lakh ex-showroom. It is powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox only. MG Astor Shine - Exterior
Same as before, nothing has changed in the exterior of this variant, as it gets LED headlights with LED DRLs. The blacked-out grille with glossy black inserts on the border creates a bold appearance. Even the fog lamp area gets the same treatment, and with the white color, these stand out. Moving to the side, the R17-inch aero alloy wheels complement the subtle aesthetics of the Astor. The handle bars have chrome accents, which is rare for a car at this price tag.
The rear profile is also the same, featuring a silver skid plate, and the reflector placed in a piano black design element creates an aesthetically appealing bumper. Then, a feature which is again unique for this segment at such a price point is the rear defoggers and windshield wipers. The same nicely designed LED tail-lamps are there. Over the roof, the satin silver finish roof rails and shark fin antenna add to its premium styling.
MG Astor Shine - Interior
Let's begin with the feature that makes it the most value-for-money variant in the segment: the panoramic sunroof. At Rs 12.47 lakh ex-showroom, MG is providing a panoramic sunroof, which in recent times has become India's favorite feature in cars. It opens up the interior with natural light, and the beautiful interior truly shines with that.
This dual-tone ivory interior is simple but elegant, and such a design remains timeless. The seats are made of premium fabric and offer great comfort. Also, a central armrest is provided, which, once you get used to it, there is no going back. Apart from these feature, the Shine variant also boasts a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, with wired and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The tachometer in this variant is analog, but in between, there is also an 8.9 cm multi-info display.
Lastly, the Shine variant comes with a 1.5L NA petrol engine that makes 110 PS and 144 Nm of torque, paired with only a 5-speed manual gearbox. Both wheels are equipped with disc brakes.
