The new Honda Amaze is the answer to the recently-updated Maruti Suzuki Dzire, and both these cars have generated some much-needed interest in the compact sedan segment. With prices ranging between Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 10.89 lakh, the new Amaze does cost a bit more than the competition. However, Honda seems to have packaged the car well enough from the base variant itself.

New Honda Amaze First Look Review
Design
The new Amaze gets an updated design, taking inspiration from the bigger cars in Honda Car India's lineup. While the profile is the same as the outgoing car, the front heavily draws inspiration from the Elevate, with the upright bonnet and large grille treatment, giving the Amaze a more muscular, upright stance as well.
There are six paint schemes to choose from; Radiant Red Metallic, Obsidian Blue Pearl, Golden Brown Metallic, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, and Platinum White Pearl.
The Amaze comes with 14-inch steel rims, along with 15-inch conventional alloy rims and dual-tone alloy rims as well. The silhouette of the car also remains identical to the outgoing car, but it still manages to look fresh and stylish. The tailgate has also received a mild redesign, but the tail lights are identical to what we see on the current City.
This might be a strategic move, to style the Amaze like its bigger siblings, and it is certainly not a bad move at all, considering the City and the Elevate themselves are good-looking cars. Overall, these changes make the new Amaze look fresher and more stylish than before.

Interiors and Features
Honda has also updated the interiors of the Amaze, with the new layout resembling what we have seen on the Elevate. The new Amaze comes with an 8-inch HD touch screen right from the base-spec V variant onwards, along with wired and wireless smartphone connectivity, voice commands, follow-me headlamps, hill-hold control, a four-speaker surround sound system, paddle shifters for automatic variants, a 7-inch digi-analogue instrument cluster, power-adjustable ORVMs, and an air purifier.
We have done a detailed variant analysis, which explains exactly what each variant comes equipped with. You can click this link to read more.
Powertrain and Specifications
The new Amaze remains mechanically identical to the outgoing car. However, this time there is no diesel option around. The 1.2-litre, nat-asp petrol has been retained, and it continues to produce 88.5bhp and 110Nm of torque, paired to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
We do not expect the new Amaze to be too different when it comes to the overall drive experience; it should probably retain its easy-going, refined nature, but I guess this is something I'll leave for Shipranshu to comment on once he's done driving the car in Goa.
Verdict
The new Amaze sees huge improvements in terms of features and equipment, and the design changes make it look fresher as well. While it does come at a higher price tag compared to its rivals, and it also misses out on a CNG option, the new Amaze fights back with a Level 2 ADAS suite and higher output figures as well.
