Hyundai Exter CNG Vs Tata Punch CNG: The micro-SUV segment in India is flourishing with options like Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. The Tata Punch is the top-selling model in India which has even surpassed popular models like Maruti Swift in terms of sales. In June 2024 alone, Tata Motors sold 18,238 units of Punch micro-SUV.

However, the Hyundai has introduced the Exter micro-SUV with its Hy-CNG duo technology, similar to Tata's twin-cylinder technology. The newly launched Hyundai Exter Hy-CNG is a straight rival for the Tata Punch CNG. Both these cars offer great value for money in their price segment. The newly launched Hyundai Exter Hy-CNG is available in three trims- S, SX and the Knight Edition based on the SX trim. The Exter CNG starts from Rs. 8.50 lakh for the S variant and goes up to Rs. 9.38 lakh for the Knight SX while the SX variant is priced at Rs. 9.23 lakh.

On the other hand, the Tata Punch CNG is available in five variants- Pure CNG, Adventure CNG, Adventure Rythm CNG, Accomplished CNG and Accomplished Dazzle S CNG. The Punch CNG starts with a price tag of Rs. 7.23 lakh and goes up to 9.85 lakh for the top-end Accomplished Dazzle S CNG trim. It means that the Punch's base model is cheaper than the Exter CNG's base model, but if we talk about the fully loaded variants, the Hyundai Exter CNG costs Rs. 47,000 less than the top-end trim of the Punch CNG.

The Hyundai Exter CNG measure 3815 mm in length, 1710 mm in width and 1631 mm in height. The Exter micro-SUV gets a longer wheelbase of 2450mm than the Tata Punch. The Exter offers a good road presence with its SUV-like stance.

On the other hand, the Tata Punch measures 3827 in length, 1742 mm in width and 1615mm in height. The Punch CNG ground clearance is also better, 2mm more than the Exter. The Hyundai Exter now gets a decent boot space at the back, thanks to the Duo-CNG tech. While the Punch CNG has 210 litres of boot space at the rear.

While both cars offer top-notch features, the Hyundai Exter excels with features like 15-inch styled alloy wheels, Automatic climate control (mid variants onwards) and a bigger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Both Exter and Punch come powered by a 1.2-litre engine, but the major difference is the Exter has a 4-cylinder unit while the Punch has a 3-cylinder engine. In the CNG guise, the Exter gets a 1.2 litre 4-cylinder NA engine that produces 68 bhp of power and 95.2 Nm of torque.

On the other hand, the 3-cylinder engine of the Punch makes more power (72.5 bhp) and torque (103 Nm) than the Exter micro-SUV. For the transmission duties, both cars get a 5-speed transmission.
