Skoda Kylaq Pros

Pro 1: New "Modern Solid" Design

Skoda Kylaq Pros and Cons

Skoda Kylaq is the first car/product to get the new "Modern Solid" design language. However, it looks like a mini kushaq at once, it has some new design elements to showcase which include new split headlamps with LED DRLs and a projector headlamp setup. Overall, the Kylaq has a clean side profile, providing it a distinct road presence from other Skoda cars.

Pro 2: Decently Equipped

Skoda Kylaq Pros and Cons

One of the standout features of the Kylaq is the powered co-driver seat, which is a segment-first offering. This means that even the co-driver (passenger seat) gets adjustable power controls, providing added comfort, especially on long journeys. In addition, the Kylaq offers features such as a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and automatic climate control. These features make the Kylaq a worthy option in the respective segment.

Pro 3: Solid Build Quality

Like its bigger siblings, the Kushaq and Slavia, the Kylaq is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, ensuring a solid foundation. Skoda is known for its robust build quality and the Kylaq is no exception. The MQB-IN platform shared with other Skoda and Volkswagen models offers a sturdy feel and the quality of materials used in the cabin and on the exterior is premium for this segment. It feels well put together and durable, giving buyers confidence in the vehicles longevity.

Pro 4: Impressive Stance with 17-inch Wheels

The Skoda Kylaq comes equipped with 17-inch wheels which contribute significantly to its road presence. The 17 inchers on offer enhance the SUV's stance, giving it a more confident and athletic look, but they also improve the overall ride quality. The large wheels help the car tackle uneven roads more effectively and give it a more composed and stable ride compared to smaller wheels.

Pro 5: Spacious Boot and Expandable Space

For a compact SUV, the Skoda Kylaq offers an impressive 446 litres of boot space, which is more than enough for a weekend getaway or a family trip. If even thats not enough for you, the boot can be expanded to a massive 1,265 litres by folding down the rear seats, making the Kylaq an excellent choice for those who need additional cargo capacity.

Skoda Kylaq Cons

Con 1: Rear Seat Comfort for Only Two Adults

Although the Skoda Kylaq has a spacious cabin, the rear seat is a bit restrictive when it comes to comfort. The rear seat is best suited for two adults as the middle seat can be uncomfortable due to limited space. The rear bench is relatively flat, and the central tunnel could be an issue for taller passengers sitting in the middle. So, while the Kylaq can accommodate three passengers in the back, it would be more comfortable for two adults on longer journeys.

Con 2: Misses Out on Some Key Features

While the Kylaq offers great features for its price, it misses out on certain features that are available in some of its rivals. For instance, the Kylaq does not come with ADAS which is available in competitors like the Hyundai Venue. Features like a 360-degree camera and lane-keeping assist are notably absent from the Kylaq, making it feel a little behind in terms of safety tech.

Con 3: No Additional Engine Options

Skoda Kylaq Pros and Cons

Another drawback of the Skoda Kylaq is the lack of additional engine options. The car only comes with a single 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, and there are no other engine variants (such as a larger petrol engine). This limits the choice for buyers who might be looking for a more powerful engine or an alternative fuel option.

Verdict

The Skoda Kylaq impresses with its bold design, solid build, and feature-rich cabin, especially with the segment-first powered co-driver seat and generous boot space. However, it falls short in rear seat comfort, lacks advanced safety features like ADAS, and offers limited engine options. While a great choice for those valuing style and build quality, it may not satisfy buyers seeking more tech and powertrain variety.
