Hyundai has known to offer cars that come with high levels of quality, a good ride and value for money. However, they also like experimenting with 'performance' and we saw that with the 1.0 Turbo petrol on the Aura. The same is now expected to be offered with the NIOS hatchback. This same engine was first seen in the Venue. This 100 PS powered Grand i10 NIOS Turbo is on display at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The Grand i10 NIOS Turbo looks similar to the normal version as the changes aren't many. The front now gets a gloss black finished grille with Turbo badging. The exterior has also received an all-black roof along with blacked out ORVM and blacked-out A, B and C pillars too. The boot lid also gets a Turbo badging at the edge. The interior sports an all-black dashboard with red inserts on AC vent surrounds. The seat covers and the steering wheel also gets red stitching. This same cabin combination can be seen on the Aura 1.0 turbo as well.
Coming to the main highlight, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol churns out 100 PS and 172 Nm of peak torque paired with 5-speed manual transmission. The Euro-spec Grand i10 N-line offers the same 172 Nm of torque but the power figure is 120 PS. However, Hyundai hasn't used the N-line suffix and used Turbo badging only.
We expect Hyundai to launch the i10 NIOS Turbo iteration in the coming few weeks. Since the Tiago JTP and Baleno RS have been discontinued due to low sales, the only valid and a tad overpriced Volkswagen Polo comes close to the rivalry of Grand i10 Nios Turbo. After the launch, the 2020 Grand i10 Nios will be available with a total of three engines: 1.0-litre Turbo, 1.2 -litre petrol and 1.2-litre diesel engines.
