Coming to the question that how the 2020 Mahindra Thar got so popular that it gathered this many bookings? Well, pricing played an important factor. The new Thar starts from Rs 9.80 lakh and the top-spec variant reaches till Rs 13.75 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi.

Next is the features which are a huge improvement from the previous version. One gets a factory fitted hardtop, a convertible soft top and the latter is in more demand. It also gets AC controls, a touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Power windows, Steering mounted controls, roof-mounted speakers are also some other features of the new Thar.
Another thing which made the Thar a popular lifestyle vehicle is the availability of an automatic gearbox. Despite how low the base versions are, people are opting for soft convertible and automatic versions of the new Thar. Under the hood too Mahindra has improved by bringing in a powerful petrol motor and a new diesel engine. The petrol makes 150 bhp with 320 Nm while the oil burner generates 130 bhp with 300 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual as standard and an option 6-speed auto is available.

One of the factors which attract the buyers of Thar is its off-roading capability and in this domain, the 2020 version has surely improved. The new Thar gets an approach angle of 41.8 degrees, departure angle of 36.8 degrees and ramp over angle of 27 degrees.
Safety features too on this new Thar comes with ABS with EBD, Hill-hold assist, dual airbags, rear parking sensors, hill-descent function, a roll-over cage bar and among others. The 2020 Thar is a bang on in terms of features, safety and pricing.
