Based on a similar platform as that of the petrol variants, the 2022 BMW X3 xDrive20d is no different in terms of design. At the front, the iconic large kidney-shaped grille is supported by the twin-barrel hexagonal-shaped LED headlights. These headlights in a true BMW fashion have been equipped with the adaptive LED system which also features the high-beam assist function.

Apart from the headlights, the front fog lamps are also all-LED. BMW also offers acoustic comfort glazing features in the headlights to aid the visibility of the oncoming traffic, especially in bad weather during nighttime.

At the rear end, the new wraparound LED taillights found their way similar to the other iterations. No visible changes apart from the xDrvie20d badge can differentiate the diesel version from petrol versions.

2022 BMW X3 Diesel Engine & Performance

BMW has been renowned in constructing powerful and efficient diesel engines. The new X3 diesel advents the BMW diesel engine making experience as it uses a 2.0-Lt, 4-cylinder, turbocharged-diesel engine which produces a peak power of 190 Bhp @ 4000 RPM with a peak torque of 400 Nm @ 1750-2500 RPM.

This power is mated to the rear wheels with the use of an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. This automatic gearbox helps to propel the X3 diesel from standstill to 100 kmph mark within a claimed 7.9 seconds of time. The top speed is also claimed to be 213 kmph which should be considered as very fast for an SUV of such size and weight.

2022 BMW X3 Diesel Price & Rivals

The introductory price of Rs 65.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom) makes the X3 diesel a very competitive rival in the segment. While the segment of mid-size luxury SUVs includes the rivals such as Volvo XC60, Audi Q5, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC; BMW X3 was left out in terms of sales because of no diesel engine on offer. Now with the diesel engine, the new X3 can sustain its sales in the segment.

Helping the sales of X3 diesel shall be the BMW service packages called the 'Condition Based Service Packages' which claim to keep the maintenance costs to a bare minimum of Rs 1.53 per kilometer. These service packages offer a warranty of up to 10 years/2,00,000 kms. Customers can also choose warranty packages with less than 3 years/40,000 kms too.
