Honda CB500F Details
Speaking of the bike, it is essentially a naked version of the Honda CB500X. The X version was an sports tourer bike which was on sale in India. However, its high price tag & low sales volume killed it in the market. Hence, Honda discontinued it in India. Now, the CB500F is on display at Big Wing showroom of Bangalore. This single model is only for display purposes. In fact, Honda is calling its customers to visit showroom and see the bike. Hence, this model is for study purposes whether it will sell in India or not.
It design is that of a generic naked sports bike. Without too much bling, the upright posture looks decent. It comes fitted with a 471-cc, parallel-twin engine. This engine makes a peak power of 47 bhp & 43 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed gearbox is used for seamless transmission on it. Additionally, it hosts quality hardware like Showa shocks at Separate Function Forks at the front. It also gets dual disc brakes at the front tyre.
Verdict
As new players like Keeway is entering the Indian premium bike market; Honda wants to stay sharp. Hence, the introduction of new models is required. However, the addition of a sub-500cc naked sports bike is still due from Honda. The displayed model can possibly push Honda to launch it in India soon. If this happens, we suspect that its pricing will be somewhere around Rs 4.5 lakh.
