Hero Xtreme 160R

Hero MotoCorp has updated its Hero Xtreme 160R lineup for 2025 with OBD-2B compliant engines. The 2-valve model is now priced at Rs 1,13,211, while the 4-valve version comes in at Rs 1,40,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi), each costing Rs 1,600 more than their previous iterations. The 2V continues with its Stealth Black finish, while the 4V retains its trio of colour options namely Kevlar Brown, Neon Shooting Star, and Stealth Black. Both bikes are offered in single variants, aligning with the brand's move toward stricter emission norms.

Notably, apart from the engine being updated to meet the new norms, the bikes continue with their regular hardware and the features on board. Both variants of the Hero Xtreme 160R share a 276mm front disc, but differ at the rear where the 2V gets a 130mm drum with single-channel ABS, while the 4V uses a 220mm disc with dual-channel ABS. Mechanically, the bikes remain largely unchanged aside from the OBD-2B update. Standard features include a fully digital instrument cluster, LED lighting, and a side-stand engine cut-off. The 2V uses a 37mm telescopic fork, while the 4V features a KYB inverted fork of the same size, as both continue with a 7-step adjustable rear monoshock.

Hero Xtreme 160R: Engine Details

2025 Hero Xtreme 160R continue to be powered by the same 163.2cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, delivering 16.9PS and 14.6Nm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The key update is that the engine now meets the latest OBD-2B emission norms, and no other changes whatsoever. Although the brand could have added a couple of new colour options, it has refrained from doing anything else.

Verdict

This update is a basic minimum that the governemnt regulations mandate, in terms of the emission standards to follow. While the bike is now OBD-2B compliant, I feel like the brand could have done a little more to justify the price hike thrown in the mix. Don't take me wrong, it is pretty well-equipped for what it charges and what if offers, but a little something new, is almost always desired.
