It is also going to host radical structural and technical changes.

Innova Hycross Design & Features
As visible in the spy pics, the test car is going to be larger than the Innova Crysta itself. It is reported to be 4.7 mt in length and shall embrace 2.85 mt of wheelbase. This means it is going to have more interior space. Additionally, the multiple seating options for customers will continue on the Hycross as well. The front shape includes new LED DRLs and new projector headlights. However, the turn indicators are not LED. The front bumper and grille have also been revised in design.
The side profile looks largely similar to the current Innova. Meanwhile, the alloy wheels are multi-spoke and seem larger (maybe 17-inch) as compared to the current car. The rear design has also been fitted with new LED taillights. Additionally, the boot lid and rear bumper are also changed on the Hycross.
The Hycross will host a long list of features. Toyota aims to design and focus the Hycross for private buyers mainly and hence a lot of techs will be offered. We expect that the features like a 360-degree parking camera, a sunroof, multiple USB points, a large infotainment screen, leather interiors, a soft-touch dashboard, etc. shall be offered.
Engine & Specifications
Toyota is going to ditch the diesel engine on the Hycross. This means it will only feature a petrol engine mixed with hybrid tech. However, it is anticipated to feature the same hybrid tech as seen on the Toyota Urban Cruiser SUV. Meanwhile, the petrol engine will be a bigger 2.0-lt unit on it. This petrol engine mixed with a hybrid is expected to produce good fuel economy figures. Additionally, we suspect a CVT gearbox shall be offered along with it.
Additionally, it will be the first Innova that will not use a ladder on the frame chassis. Toyota has constructed the Hycross on a monocoque chassis with FWD. This means its performance of it will be highly different than the current MPV. However, the Innova Crysta will remain on sale alongside it with its diesel engine options.
Price, Launch & Rivals
Meanwhile, Toyota has not released any info about its launch till now but we suspect that it will debut next month. Additionally, its launch will be global via India as it will be sold internationally as well. However, due to its big size and more features, we anticipate its pricing to go higher than the Crysta. Its only rival in India is Mahindra Marazzo MPV.
Verdict
The launch of Innova Hycross will turn out to be a game changer for the Innova brand itself. To cope with NGT diesel bans & increasing EV population; the hybrid Hycross will prove to be among the best sellers. However, its pricing will be the key deciding factor of which we're still unknown.
