Design & Features Comparison
Bajaj-Triumph Bike
Speaking of the design, the upcoming bike is going to be a roadster mainly. This means that it is designed to be ridden every day easily inside the city traffic. The riding posture, as seen in the spy photos, is just a little bit aggressive. The riding triangle is front-set but the overall position is rather relaxed. Additionally, the neo-retro design bits like the LED round headlight, round taillight, & round turn indicators make up for a more generic outlook. Meanwhile, the overall dimensions look compact and it seems this will be one easy-handling bike.
Features on it will include LED lighting, a digital instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and even maybe riding modes as well. However, the exact list of features will only reveal during its launch. Meanwhile, this is what we can predict about this upcoming bike. It will be a feature-rich bike in its segment when compared to its rivals.
Royal Enfield Hunter 350
The most selling maker in this segment is the Royal Enfield. The cult bike maker recently launched its most affordable bike Hunter 350. It has been designed in a very generic order to cater to young buyers. It is compact and holds good city handling characteristics. Meanwhile, the overall design appeal is full of neo-retro elements as such the round headlight, round taillight, round indicators, etc. However, the fresh design is new from the company and it is being loved by the new buyers.
Speaking of features, Hunter remains one of the most less equipped products in this comparo. Meanwhile, a semi-digital instrument cluster and an LED taillight are all you get in terms of features. Additionally, the alloy wheels are only available on the higher variant.
TVS Ronin 225
TVS launched its Ronin 225 with full enthusiasm. However, despite having a distinctive design, the sales are lugging. Meanwhile, the Ronin also caters to the neo-retro buyer who is looking for a comfortable and easy-handling bike. The design elements such as the round LED headlight, LED taillight, and LED turn indicators make for a modern yet classy appeal. Additionally, the sculpted fuel tank looks and feels good with the overall design.
TVS Ronin remains the most well-equipped bike in its segment. TVS has ensured to offer the utmost tech and features on it. It comes with an offset digital instrument panel, LED DRL, chain cover, Bluetooth connectivity, etc. The features listed on the Ronin make it one of the most value-for-money bikes in its segment.
Honda H'ness CB350
Honda's contender in this segment is the CB350. Designed to beat the likes of the Royal Enfield cult, the H'ness has done pretty well for Honda in India. However, it is its retro-classic design and strong built quality it which is loved by customers. Additionally, the use of chrome and easy riding ergonomics have helped in the design. The overall stance and outlook of the CB350 mimic that of a bigger-capacity roadster bike. The mix of alloy wheels and LED headlights make up for the modern bits.
Feature-wise, Honda equips the H'ness with a semi-digital instrument panel with Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, it also gets the LED turn indicators to make it look more modern.
Engine & Specifications Comparison
Bajaj-Triumph Bike
It is being widely anticipated that the upcoming bike from the new JV will feature in the 350-400cc segment. According to the reports on the internet, it will have a powerful engine that will make segment-leading power output. However, the details for its engine & specs are still unclear. But, going by the expectations, this engine must be good for 30 bhp or more. Additionally, a 6-speed gearbox, dual-channel ABS, & slipper-assist clutch are also expected. It will come equipped with USD front forks and a monoshock at the rear.
Royal Enfield Hunter 350
The Hunter 350, however, uses the tried & tested J-platform. The engine is also the same as seen on the Classic 350 or the Meteor 350. It is a 350cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled unit. Additionally, this engine performs well due to the light kerb weight of 177 kg only. The peak power output stands at 20.2 bhp and the peak torque is 27 Nm. Meanwhile, it uses a 5-speed gearbox which helps in utilizing this power quite interestingly. The suspension used is a telescopic fork at the front and spring tubes at the rear.
TVS Ronin 225
TVS Ronin 225 comes equipped with a decently powerful engine. It comes with a perfect square 225.9cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine makes a peak power of 20.2 bhp and 19.93 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper-assist clutch function as well. However, the front suspension is a USD fork setup whilst the rear uses a 7-step adjustable monoshock suspension.
Honda H'ness CB350
The Honda H'ness CB350 has been fitted with a 348.36cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This engine makes a peak power of 21 bhp and 30 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. However, due to its long gear ratios, one does not feel the lack of performance throughout the powerband. The suspension of the CB350 is quite a simple setup. The front uses a telescopic fork setup while the rear has been fitted with a dual-spring hydraulic setup.
Price Comparison
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 & the TVS Ronin 225 are the most affordable bikes in their segment. The Hunter is priced between Rs 1.49 - 1.69 lakh ex-showroom. Similarly, the Ronin is also priced between Rs 1.49 - 1.69 lakh ex-showroom. It is the Honda CB350 which is the most costly with a price tag of between Rs 2 - 2.08 lakh ex-showroom. However, the absence of information regarding the 2023 Bajaj-Triumph bike makes it difficult to precisely guess its pricing. Meanwhile, our safe bet is that it will be priced between Rs 2-3 lakh at most. Additionally, it will be available in multiple variants hence buyers will be able to choose according to their budget.
