2023 KTM 390 Duke - Details
Well, it is not the first time that the 390 Duke has been spotted testing. The bike is already in the news for being spied on multiple times. It seems that KTM is ensuring to iron out the final flaws from it via extensive road testing. Speaking of the new model, it'll get a sharper design and new body panels. A new LED headlight and USD forks at the front will embrace its design. Additionally, it'll get a new subframe with an offset suspension. In fact, the test bike has a new set of alloy wheels and repositioned bigger disc brake at the front.
A TFT square screen is also visible which is likely to offer Bluetooth phone connectivity as well as riding modes, traction control, & even switchable ABS (anticipated). Meanwhile, the new Duke will probably get a bigger 399cc single-cylinder engine. This engine shall generate a peak power of around 45 bhp & a peak torque of more than 40 Nm. Alongside, it'll get a new swingarm and new sprockets to ensure linear power delivery.
Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 - Details
While the Duke has already been spied on multiple times, the Husky was seen for the first time with alloy wheels. The test mule mimics the design of the typical Husqvarna styling. It looks compact and minimalistic. Additionally, the black alloy wheels do add to the presence. Another interesting detail is that it was seen using MRF tyres. While the previous test mule was seen with spoke rims and Pirelli tyres, this one indicates that Husqvarna is testing new vendors. While tyre testing is not unusual, the main thing to notice is the same disc brake size and positioning on the 401 as well as the Duke test bikes.
It is no hidden fact that Husqvarna will share the powertrain with the Duke. Additionally, the chassis components and the hardware is also likely to be identical. For example, the front brake is of similar size but the rotors are different. Meanwhile, a new TFT display is also visible on the 401 which will offer similar features and info as the upcoming Duke 390.
Verdict
The new Duke 390 & the Husqvarna 401, both, are anticipated to make debut by the upcoming Diwali festival. While the design and outlook of both models will be different, the part sharing and powertrain sharing will ensure subtle costs. We suspect that both of the models will launch in India above the Rs 3 lakh mark. Their main rivals will include the newly launched Triumph Speed 400 & the BMW G 310 R.
