2025 BMW X3 Will Get New Powertrain, Exterior, Interior And Much More

One of the best-selling BMW vehicles in India, the X3, is coming to India in its fourth generation (G45). This new model features a fresh design, three powerful powertrain options, and a modern interior. It is expected to launch at a starting price of Rs 42 lakh, with the top trim going up to Rs 72 lakh. It's an exciting time for the Munich-based company as they have recently, unveiled all-new 5 Series LWB, M2, and now, in a short span, they have introduced this SUV.

What are the exterior highlights of the all new BMW X3?

The upcoming ultimate driving machine will feature a striking kidney grille finished with glossy black slats and vertically and diagonally arranged bars, along with a newly designed front bumper. The grille, lookalike of the flagship model XM, can also be beautified with an optional contour LED light.

Additionally, the shark-eye LED headlights capture your attention even from a distance. However, according to the press release, these adaptive LED headlights with matrix high beam are optional, and there is no information about the standard lights.

The side profile might not immediately reveal that it's an all-new car, but the rear end certainly will. The rear bumper is entirely new, and the large taillights grab your attention. The standard wheels are 18 inch & 19 inches on (30e X Drive), while 20- and 21-inch wheels are available at an additional cost.

Additionally, it is 34 mm longer and 24 mm wider, yet 25 mm shorter than the previous generation. According to BMW, these new dimensions result in a more powerful and sporty look. The new BMW X3 will come in a total of ten colors, including one solid and eight metallic paint options, as well as a new Dune Grey metallic finish.

What about the interior of the new BMW X3?

From the photos, the interior of the G45 looks futuristic. The usage of contrasting colours in ambient lightning, plus the U shaped design elements near centre console, door handles and ac vents gives it distincitve look. BMW calls it sporty premium ambiance, and we couldn't agree more.

Some of the new feautres inside the cabin are, 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster and 14.9 inch infotainment dispaly, which BMW calls it curved display. A new gear selector lever, flat bottomed steering wheel, BMW interactive bar, and a new ventilated sports seats.

Engine Options in the all new BMW X3

One important change is that BMW no longer uses the "i" suffix for their petrol engine models. The standard variant is now called 30 xDrive, with the "i" reserved only for electric variants. The first engine option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 208hp and 330 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 8-speed automatic transmission and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 8 seconds.

The second is the 2.0 litre diesal engine, also known as xDrive 20d. It was 197hp and 400Nm of peak torque, plus it an highly efficient engine, which gives a average of 16 to 17 km per litre.

The third option features a mighty 3.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine supported by 48-volt hybrid technology, delivering a total output of 255 hp and 400 Nm of torque. This setup enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds. Additionally, there is a plug-in hybrid option that combines a 2.0-liter petrol engine with an electric motor to produce 299 hp. BMW claims the vehicle can run on battery alone for a range of 81 to 90 km

The top-spec trim is the M50 xDrive, which houses a 3.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine paired with 48V mild hybrid technology, producing a total of 398 hp. It completes the 0 to 100 km/h run in just 4.6 seconds, thanks to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

Launch date of the BMW X3

BMW plans to launch the X3 either in December 2024 or the following year. The exact dates will be announced in the next BMW X3 press release. It will directly compete with the Mercedes GLC Class, Audi Q5, and Lexus NX. Currently, BMW India is preparing for the highly anticipated launch of the 5 Series LWB.

Verdict

The all-new BMW X3 feels like a leap into the future with its redesigned interior, headlights, and kidney grille. It holds the position of the second best-selling BMW in India, where expectations for its performance are consistently high.
