MY25 Kia Sonet To Get New Variant And Features Repositioning
First up, there's a new HTE(O) trim level of another Kia Sonet that'll sit just above the existing base HTE. This new version adds some handy features you don't currently get on the base model, like rear power windows and rear window curtains, plus LED daytime running lights. Another new addition is the HTK(O) variant, positioned above the current HTK. This one adds power-folding outside mirrors with integrated turn signals and, you guessed it, LED daytime running lights. So, some extra convenience and a bit more style for those stepping up to these new trims in 2025, but that's still not all.
The HTX version of the Sonet is getting a few tweaks too. The dual-tone horn is now being replaced by a simpler, single-tone one, and the air purifier is getting a redesign as well. Perhaps the biggest change for the HTX is that they're dropping the diesel engine with the AMT gearbox. Kia is also streamlining the Sonet range by axing three variants altogether: the HTK+, HTX+, and the sporty GTX, making the lineup a bit less confusing for buyers.

Powertrain
The Kia Sonet comes with a choice of three distinct engines, each offering different performance characteristics and transmission options. A 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine is available exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission. For those looking for more power, a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine is offered with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT. Completing the engine lineup is a 1.5-liter diesel engine, which can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Verdict
The updates with the Kia Sonet are aimed at streamlining the somehwhat complex line-up and making some tweaks that the brand thought was necessary. The axing of some variants and adding a few towards the entry and mid-points is a good move that will help buyers to make easy selections while opting for the their best suited variant.
