Bajaj CNG Bike Bookings Open: Everything We Know
The upcoming Bajaj CNG bike is all set to create history on July 5th when it becomes the world's first bike to run on CNG, While the hype around the bike is real and quite shiny, the launch plans will not be as usual. Why? It's the lack of CNG infra in the country.
The anticipated launch of the Bajaj CNG Bike is likely to roll out in phases, considering the uneven CNG infrastructure across India. The official website is now active, offering a registration link for updates on the bike set to debut on July 5, 2024. While specific specifications are yet to be disclosed, the official website provides insights into India's current CNG infrastructure, aligning with the government's plan to establish 17,500 CNG stations by 2030. Notably, Bajaj leads with 70% of auto-rickshaws in India running on CNG, underscoring its significant presence in the segment.
In terms of styling, it will resemble your regular commenter bikes, with a rounded headlamp, long seat, upright and relaxed seating position, tubular handlebars, and the prominent chunky great tyre hugger. The exhaust trajectory gives it a more sporty look, or rather a commuter with a swag look, to make it more appealing to a largely urban-centric gentry. We say so because the Bajaj CNG bike is highly likely to introduce one more variant as well.
It is all set to get a more rugged version with the add-on accessories as well like a knuckle guard, flyscreen, fork gaitor kit, and a few nifty updates to make it apt for some rough beating on the rough interior roads, something that Bajaj will be betting heavily on.

Engine And Fueling Options
Although the details of the powertrain and the fuel options have not been revealed, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj has dropped cues on it coming with an engine with a capacity of around 110-125 cc, a popular segment where commuter bikes shine. On top of this, like the CNG cars, this bike would get 2 fuel compartments, a bigger one for the CNG and a smaller, 1 to 2 liters for the petrol as a backup fuel. With just a couple of days left, the official details will come out soon.
The pricing is expected to remain around the Rs. 90,000 mark and with that, it aims to hit hard at the popular 125cc petrol bike in the segment like Honda Shine, Hero Glamour Xtec, TVS Raider 125, and more.
Verdict
The upcoming Bajaj CNG biek will revolutionise how the commuter segment operates. While the segment is now looking towards better looking bikes, the fact that it longs for mileage will be the first box to tick. Since CNG is cheaper and churns out more mileage, it would make all the difference for those putting mileage over performance. Also, as a domino effect, you can expect some more CNG bikes to flood the market, if this one takes off.
