In a dramatic, over-the-top video of the Citroen Basalt, we notice some interior updates that appear to be similar to those in the Citroen C3 Aircross. This quick 30-second teaser was enough to give a glimpse of what this coupe SUV has to offer. Well, this teaser was all about the Citroen Basalt's interior, and visually, it was completely similar to the C3 Aircross. It features the same French-style dual AC vents with a chrome finish, a 10.2-inch touchscreen display above, and a 7-inch digital driver's display. Also, includes automatic climate control, which is not offered in the C3 Aircross. It seems the French automaker has taken notes this time.
What Else Can We Expect From the Citroen Basalt
This will be a big event as Citroen is stepping into the niche Coupe SUV segment and will compete with the Tata Curvv, which is also set to launch in August. For now, we can expect a similar setup to the C3 Aircross, which means the same 3-cylinder PureTech 110 petrol engine that produces 110 PS and 190 Nm of torque with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and 110 PS and 205 Nm of torque with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The fuel efficiency is expected to be around 18 kmpl with the manual gearbox and 17 kmpl with the automatic.
Like its counterpart, the 360-degree camera, central armrest, and steering-mounted controls will be featured in this SUV. However, in the C3 Aircross, the rear AC vents are placed in the roof, and Citroen calls it 'Tropicalised AC.' I think the Basalt will not have the same system due to its coupe design and lower height. Therefore, the rear AC vents are likely to be placed in the middle, like in most other vehicles.
Launch Date of The Citroen Basalt?
The official teaser didn't give a clue about the launch date, but it ended with a "Coming Soon" message. However, according to several media rumors, this SUV is expected to launch in the first or second week of August. After its launch, its first competitor will be the Tata Curvv, followed by the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara.

Verdict
The French automaker's Basalt looks promising. First of all, its design is so new to the Indian audience that its bound to become a head-turner. Yes, we are all familiar with the X6, X4, or GLE Coupe, but those are high-end luxury vehicles. This will be the second vehicle to feature this body style after the Curvv, and this is both a golden and daunting moment for the brand Citroen.
