Kia Carnival

Kia, a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Group, made its debut in India with the Seltos in 2019. Since then, it has cemented its position in the automotive market as a premium player, with an audience mostly comprising young people who love dynamic-looking cars and providing outstanding performance. To add to that, in just 6 years, Kia has sold over 690,000 units of the Seltos, over 500,000 of the Sonet, 232,000 of the Carens, and over 15,000 of the Carnival. This is a huge achievement for a brand that is so young in a country where most people didnt even know about its origin.

Kia Seltos

Despite such massive success, Kia had to hike up their prices, and that's due to the rising costs of commodities and input materials. As per Kia, the price will go up by 3%, so it's fair to assume that the Kia Seltos will now start at Rs 9.25 lakh, up from Rs 8.99 lakh. Well, this is just a fair assumption made with simple calculation, but for the final result, we have to wait until 1st April.

Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar, Sr. Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Kia India said, "As a brand committed to providing exceptional value and quality to our customers, we have always strived to offer the best vehicles at competitive prices. However, due to the rising costs of commodities and input materials, we will be increasing upto 3% price hike across all Kia models, effective from 1st April 2025. While we understand that price adjustments can be challenging, this decision has been made to ensure we can continue delivering the high-quality, technologically advanced vehicles that our customers expect from Kia. To minimize the impact on our customers, Kia is absorbing a significant portion of the increased costs, ensuring that the price adjustment remains as manageable as possible for our valued customers"

Verdict

Inflation is real, the Indian currency is weakening, the dollar is getting costlier, and the new tariff rates imposed by Donald Trump will have an adverse effect on all our lives. So, how can an automobile manufacturer be immune to it? This could be an indirect effect of that. That said, the customer of Kia is a premium buyer who values elite experience and performance over mileage, so it might not affect the sales of the brand. For more such news, do follow 91Wheels.
