Honda Amaze is quite a catch in the Indian market as it recently reached the 5 lakh sales mark in 9 years. The compact sedan was first launched in 2013 and since then, it has seen quite some changes. The biggest change was when the second generation model was launched and CVT Diesel was introduced.
Mechanically, there are two engine options available with the Amaze - 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel. The former is the same as found in the Jazz and even WR-V. It generates a peak power and torque of 89 bhp and 110 Nm, respectively. This engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard and a CVT as an option. The ARAI-certified fuel economy sticks to 18.6 kmpl for the MT and 18.3 kmpl for the CVT.
The diesel is the 1.5-litre, turbocharged, four-cylinder unit. It is quite reliable and people with high running have churned out over 3 lakh km and the engine still feels strong. It belts out 99 bhp of power with 200 Nm of peak torque. Like the petrol, this too is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and CVT as an option. The CVT diesel produces 79 bhp of power and 160 Nm of peak torque.
The ARAI-certified fuel economy for the MT and CVT sticks to 24.7 kmpl and 21 kmpl, respectively. It should be noted that CVT is the first in the segment for both petrol and diesel engine options. In fact, the popularity of this smooth gearbox is such that it now accounts for 30 percent of the sales for the Amaze in 2022.
Feature-wise, Amaze is fairly equipped as it offers automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, 15-inch alloy wheels and more.
Honda Amaze is priced from Rs 6.62 lakh to Rs 11.50 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It rivals with Maruti Dzire, Tata Tigor and Hyundai Aura. Will you pick Honda Amaze over its rivals?
