Hyundai Exter CNG - All Details
It's been a year since the Exter was launched in India. Hyundai had very high hopes regarding its pricing. Moreover, the Exter won the Indian Car of the Year 2023 award as well. However, its radical design has not been accepted well by Indian customers. Hence, Hyundai has introduced a more economical CNG version. Starting at a price tag of Rs 8.5 lakh, Exter's dual-cylinder technology promises to deliver a mileage of up to 27.1 km/kg. The new model has now been spotted at a dealership yard, indicating that the deliveries are going to begin soon.
Hyundai has used a similar dual-cylinder technology that the Tata cars like the Punch CNG use. The main positive of this tech is to save boot space, which is usually absent on a regular CNG car. Hence, the Exter offers a usable boot space along with dual cylinders positioned underneath its boot. Hyundai has used the trusted 1.2L naturally aspirated engine on the Hy-CNG Duo Exter. It is sought to be more refined than its rivals and it comes mated to a 5-speed transmission.
The Hy-CNG Duo Exter is available in three variants - S, SX, and SX Knight Edition. All of these variants do not get a spare wheel as a cost-cutting method. The main rival of Exter in India is the Tata Punch CNG. The Punch brand has become one of the top-selling SUVs in India, and the 5-star crash test rating structure of Punch is loved by new customers.

Verdict
Hyundai Exter has been in a continuous fight with the rivals to attain the top-spot in the sales charts. However, multiple reasons like the radical design language, pricey top variants, and the uncomfortable rear seat, have kept a lot of customers away. Hopefully, the CNG powertrain will boost the sales of Exter in the coming future.
