Kawasaki W230: Design & Features
The W230 is designed to appeal the mature buyers looking for old-school charm in a new bike. It is a roadster and hence the riding position seems relaxed on it. The use of retro design elements is evident throughout the bike. May it be the round headlight, round turn indicators, or the chrome spoke wheels; it looks like a proper old-school bike.
Being a W series bike means it won't get the latest tech & features like a digital screen or Bluetooth connectivity. The simple dual-pod analogue dials are beautiful looking yet add to its aesthetic appeal. It doesn't get LED light nether it have any connected tech. After all, it has to feel like an old-school bike, so no latest features.
Engine & Hardware
The W230, as the name suggests, is based on a new 233cc engine. This is a single-cylinder air-cooled unit that uses an EFI technology. The exact details and specifications are not out yet, but, we suspect it'll generate a healthy power & torque output. The max power of this engine could range around 20bhp. It is expected to get a 5-speed transmission without a slipper clutch.
The photos showcase that its tubular frame is based on a telescopic front suspension and dual-shockers at the rear. Moreover, the 18-inch front tyre and the 17-inch rear tyre use a tube-type setup with spoke rims. Although, it does get disc brakes at both ends which hints that it'll get a dual-channel ABS as well.
India Launch, Price, Rivals
Kawasaki is known to bring its international products to the Indian market. Speaking of old-school motorcycles, the W175 has not been able to sell in good numbers in India. However, the W230 could change this scenario if it comes to India at an aggressive price. If launched next year, the W230 is going to rival the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 & Jawa 350. The expected price tag of this retro bike could be Rs 2.5-3 lakh.

Verdict
The retro motorcycle segment in India is an evergreen market. Royal Enfield has sorted it out and hence it rules this segment from years. Kawasaki, with its retro W230, can enjoy a little market share as well; only if launched at a competitive price. Tell us your thoughts about the W230 in the comments below.
