Kia Carnival: What's Different In Aesthetics
The updated Kia Carnival features a more SUV-like stance, with a slightly squared-off design and a larger grille. It retains the signature electrically-powered sliding doors and now sports 18-inch diamond-cut alloy rims. Sleek L-shaped LED tail lights and skid plates on both ends complete the modern and sophisticated exterior. It adopts a more aggressive look than its predecessor and couples it with the big footprint, I find the new styling much better than before.
The updated Kia Carnival boasts a significantly upgraded interior and a range of advanced features. Highlights include a blended 12.3-inch HD instrument cluster, an HD infotainment touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, a 11-inch head-up display, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, three-zone climate control, ventilated and heated front seats, powered relaxation seats with ventilation, heating, and leg support in the second row, a powered tailgate, 64-color ambient lighting, shift-by-wire, and four driving modes.
Both front seats are power-adjustable, with the driver seat offering 12-step power adjustability with 4-way lumbar support and memory function, while the front passenger seat offers 8-step power adjustability. The new Carnival also comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS features, including a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, reverse parking collision avoidance assist, and high-beam assist.

Powertrain
The updated Kia Carnival retains its powerful 2.2-liter diesel engine, producing 187PS power and 440 Nm of torque. This engine is paired exclusively with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Carnival has also grown in size, with a wheelbase that is 30mm longer than its predecessor. This increased wheelbase contributes to a more spacious and comfortable interior.
Verdict
The Kia Carnival MPV offers a lot more in terms of the features on offer and its overall appeal when compared to the previous model. However, the steep pricing places it on a pedestral that is a little stretched out, even for mass market premium MPVs. While this rich tag is due to the CBU route, assembly in India will be a better option to place it more competitvely.
