As per the recent data released by IIHS, the US-spec Kia Seltos received Top Rating in the crash tests conducted by IIHS (Insurance Institute of Highway Safety). The US-spec Kia Seltos scored GOOD ratings in the small overlap front crash test for both and driver and passenger side while it also scored GOOD ratings in the moderate overlap front test. Apart from that, the car passed the side, roof strength, and head restraints & seats criteria. Apart from this, the car scored SUPERIOR ratings in the front crash prevention test. In the American market, the Kia Seltos is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-L and a 2.0-L naturally aspirated engine. The same engines are also seen on the Hyundai Kona. The buyers can opt for a CVT or an 8-speed DCT gearbox based upon the engine they choose.
However, it is worth noting that the US-spec Kia Seltos is based on a completely different platform which also underpins the Hyundai Kona in the American market. In India, the Kia Seltos shares its chassis and powertrain options with the Hyundai Creta and comes with safety features such as six airbags, hill start assist, ABS and EBD, ESC, etc.
