Breaking new ground in the sub-4m SUV segment, Kia has introduced a range of innovative features with the upcoming Sonet facelift. Notably, the facelift will incorporate an electric driver's seat adjustment, a four-way adjust system, marking a significant enhancement in driver comfort. Additionally, traction modes will be introduced in automatic variants, complementing the existing drive modes. The facelift will also reintroduce manual variants for diesel engine options. This move aligns with the trend seen in other models like Seltos and Carens, which are expected to feature diesel manual variants.
Kia is set to introduce rear disc brakes with higher trims in the upcoming Sonet facelift. Notably, this move positions the Sonet second only to the Mahindra XUV300 in offering rear disc brakes, a feature that will be available as standard fitment on higher trims. Additionally, Sonet's Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, meeting Level 1 standards, will provide eight ADAS features. These include Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Lane Following Assist, High Beam Assist, and Leading Vehicle Departure Alert. The leaked brochure reveals familiar trim levels, such as HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, and HTX+ under Tech Line, and GTX+ under GT Line and X Line.
The Kia Sonet facelift, as revealed in the leaked brochure, introduces notable first-in-segment traction modes, including Sand, Mud, and Wet, enhancing the SUV's off-road capabilities. With the addition of new wheel cover designs, alloy wheel options, and updated seat upholstery, combined with the introduction of the Pewter Olive color, the brand aims to take on the Tata Nexon even more fiercely than before.
Engine Details
The HTX trim gets the most comprehensive options in the Kia Sonet facelift lineup, offering a diverse range of options, except the 1.2 Kappa petrol engine. All three engines, the G1.2L 4-cyl NA petrol, 1.0L 3-cyl GDI turbo petrol, and 1.5L 4-cyl turbo diesel, maintain the same state of tune across various trims. The HTX trim is equipped with the 1.2L petrol engine (82 bhp, 115 Nm, 5MT), 1.0L turbo petrol engine (118 bhp, 172 Nm, 6iMT, 7DCT), and 1.5L turbo diesel engine (114 bhp, 250 Nm, 6iMT, 6TC). It's worth noting that the top-spec GTX+ and X Line variants still lack manual transmission options.
