Kia Syros Gets Bigger Than Sonet, But Not In Length
Kia is kicking off the new year with the launch of the Kia Syros, which will slot between the Seltos and Sonet in the brand's SUV lineup. Leaked specifications for the upcoming model reveal that the Syros will measure 3,995mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,665mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,550mm. The SUV is also expected to offer a generous boot space of 465 liters, making it a practical choice for buyers. When compared to the Kia Sonet, it carries the same length but is taller by 23mm and also wider by 10mm. Even though the length is the same, the wheelbase has been increased by 50mm, which translates into more space inside the cabin.
Taking design cues from models like the EV9 and Carnival, the Syros boasts a distinctive profile highlighted by a unique window line. Inside, it's expected to offer a roomy five-seat configuration, complemented by a range of advanced features, aligning with the latest insights on the model. As per a recent leak, the base models will come with 15-inch steel wheels and a touchscreen infotainment system, while the mid-range variants will feature 16-inch alloy wheels and a single-pane sunroof. The top-end variants will be equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and advanced Level 2 ADAS features, positioning the Syros as one of the most tech-forward options in its segment.

Engine Details
The Kia Syros will offer two engine options: a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 115 hp and 250 Nm of torque, and a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine delivering 120 hp and 172 Nm of torque. Both engines will be available with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions. Unlike the Sonet, which offers a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, the Syros will not have this option in its lineup.
Verdict
The upcoming Kia Syros will make the brand more in line with the current market demand where its urban compact SUV portfolio will have something to offer to everyone. This latest launch will offer something extra to those looking beyond the current pool of SUVs that are already in big numbers on the roads.
