Kia Syros has been unveiled in India and sits at a special spot in the compact SUV space. Although the pricing is yet to be revealed, it packs a lot of stuff that needs to be talked about. Be it the first turbo petrol manual from the brand or the excessively comfortable rear seat experience, the Syros hits much above its weight. However, the same has now been spotted plying on roads, in its mid-spec trim, revealing its road presence. Read on to find out how this will look on the roads, but before that, make sure you are a part of our 91Wheels Whatsapp Channel, specifically curated for all the avid petrolheads to never miss out on any automotive updates.

Kia Syros Mid-Spec Spotted On Road Besides Marazzo
While the Kia Syros has been officially revealed for the Indian market, it is unlike anything that the segment has ever seen. The design is a hit or miss with the tall boxy design, upright glass areas and polarising visual appeal. It may look nice to some while for others it may come off as a bit more than they can be comfortable with. However, for me, I like how it looks and if you want something other than the usual, this can surely be your pick.
Let's talk about its main highlight, the rear seat experience in a bit, but first let's take a look at how the Syros looks in real world alongside the usual traffic. The latest spotting is the mid-spec variant which is evident from the missing rear wiper. You can notice the Mahindra Marazzo MPV alongside the SUV, and I have to give it the Syros for leaving a mark. It looks pretty imposing with the tallboy image and the upright stance. You feel like a big-size vehicle is running on the road. While it isn't the exterior that sets the Syros apart, but it's actually the cabin, especially the rear seating area.
Interior & Features
The Kia Syros comes equipped with a wide array of features, ranging from wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and wireless charging to over-the-air (OTA) updates. Occupant comfort is prioritized with ventilated front and rear seats, a powered driver's seat, and a premium 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. A panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brake, and reclining and sliding second-row seats further enhance the in-cabin experience. Safety is addressed with six airbags and a 360-degree camera, complemented by a robust Level 2 ADAS suite encompassing 16 autonomous driving functionalities. A key highlight of the Syros's upscale interior is the seamlessly integrated dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, creating a striking 30-inch panoramic digital interface. Coupled with a two-spoke steering wheel and a generous second row space and features, the Syros offers a superior second-row comfort compared to its rivals.

Diesel And Petrol At Task
Powering the Kia Syros will be a choice of two engines: a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol unit delivering 120 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 115 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Both engine variants will be available with both manual and automatic transmissions. Uniquely, the Syros distinguishes itself within the sub-4-meter SUV category by maintaining the availability of a diesel powertrain, something that the competition is slowly moving away from.
Verdict
While Kia has yet to disclose the pricing for this newly unveiled model, they have announced that bookings will commence on January 3, 2024. Full pricing details are expected to be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Show in 2025. Taking everything into consideration, it suggests that the price point will likely be approximately Rs.1 lakh higher than the Sonet and comparable to the Seltos. However, this is positioned as a premium alternative for the Sonet with a much more premium package in terms of tech on offer.
