KTM Big Bikes Coming Soon?
Not long ago, a report surfaced online that KTM is evaluating its big-capacity superbikes for the Indian market. The report further raised eyebrows speculating how will these bikes be sold. Previously, KTM India has attempted to sell a premium bike i.e. the 790 Duke in a limited number. Sold back in 2020, the 790 Duke was later discontinued due to less customer interest. It is interesting to note down that the 790 Duke owners had to purchase and service their bikes at the same showrooms shared by other small-capacity bikes.
In order to bring the big bikes, a premium experience of ownership is necessary. That's what KTM has figured out as per the latest report. KTM is now considering opening exclusive showrooms in select big cities to sell these upcoming premium bikes. There is a possibility that a few KTM dealers can also get to sell these bikes; depending on the location.
The main question is what bikes will arrive? While there is no detail known right now, we suspect that popular models like the 890 Adventure, 990 Duke, and the 1390 Super Duke R can be introduced in India. These will come via the CKD full import route only. As sales numbers are not going to be the target, KTM will focus on a premium ownership experience by selling these models through exclusive showrooms. Additionally, it also opens up a possibility for the Husqvarna big bikes like the Svartpilen 801 to be launched in India.

Verdict
KTM's approach has changed over the years towards the Indian market. Starting its career in India, the aggressive pricing strategy couldn't last long for KTM. Moreover, the product portfolio also took time to reach the correct buyers. Now, KTM wants to become premium; which it is overseas. Hence, big bikes and exclusive showrooms could possibly prove as a positive turnaround.
