Maruti Ertiga Saftey Rating in GNCAP
In the Africa GNCAP safety test, the beloved Indian MPV Maruti Ertiga scored 1 star for adult safety and 2 stars for child safety. According to the official Global NCAP report, the Ertiga's structure is deemed unstable, with issues in the footwell area and pedal displacement. Additionally, they criticized Maruti for not offering side airbags, even as an optional safety feature.
Renault Triber Saftey Rating in GNCAP
The Global NCAP official report states that the Renault Triber offers good protection for the driver and passenger's head and neck but provides poor protection for the driver's chest in both frontal and side impacts.
The second made-in-India car was also declared unstable and censured for not providing side airbags and for not including ESC (Electronic Stability Control) as standard. The Renault Triber scored 2 stars for adult saftey and 2 stars for child saftey.
What Did the Secretary General of GNCAP Say?
Alejandro Furas expressed his disappointment with the poor safety performance of these cars. He said, We are disappointed to see global brands like Renault, Kia, and Maruti Suzuki offer such low safety performance in markets like South Africa while achieving much higher levels of protection in many other global markets.
