Mahindra Bolero, Bolero Neo: Over 10,000 Backlog Orders
The current backlog for pending deliveries of both SUVs in February 2024 remains consistent, with approximately 10,000 Mahindra Bolero and Bolero Neos awaiting delivery to customers. Despite a decrease in monthly bookings to about 9,500 units (down from the previous 11,000 units), it appears that the company is only one month behind on Bolero range deliveries. This time frame is still within reasonable limits and a month behind is acceptable keeping in mind the due process and the demand that Mahindra SUVs generate.
Interestingly, even after the launch of the Mahindra Bolero Neo, which is essentially the now-discontinued TUV300, the classic Bolero still hasn't lost its charm. It keeps on generating enough traction for the brand to keep it around. The classic Mahindra Bolero features a 76hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine and is available in three variants B4, B6, and B6 OPT, with current pricing ranging from Rs 9.98 to 10.91 lakh. As Mahindra's longest-standing model is still in production, and is slated for a generational upgrade which is due to arrive in 2026.

Bolero Neo Scores 1 Star Rating In The Global NCAP Crash Test Results
While the Bolero Neo enjoys a good enough demand, it now has a not-so-pleasing tag attached to it. In the recent Global NCAP crash test results, it performed poorly with just a single-star rating. The SUV's structural instability and insufficient footwell area compromised adult occupant protection, exacerbated by inadequate chest and foot protection for the driver. Additionally, the absence of curtain airbags and seatbelt reminder systems for all occupants contributed to safety concerns. Child occupant protection also fell short, earning only 12.71 points out of 49. The lack of three-point seatbelts for all passengers, absence of passenger airbag switches, and limited child restraint systems hindered its score, despite demonstrating acceptable performance in dynamic impact testing.

Verdict
The time frame and the pending orders list is nothing to be worried about if you are waiting for you Bolero. While an ideal condition would be an even lesser waiting period, but looking at some other SUVs with much longer waiting times, you can easily navigate through this one.
