Mahindra 5-Door Thar: What To Expect?

The upcoming 5-door Thar, expected to be named "Armada," is set to launch on August 15. This new model will feature a larger and longer body, with distinct front and rear designs, yet it will retain some similarities with its smaller 3-door version. Recently, a production-ready model was spotted, still heavily camouflaged. However, keen observers noticed glimpses of the colour scheme on the test mules.

The current 3-door Thar offers six colour options: Everest White, Red Rage, Deep Grey, Desert Fury, Stealth Black, and Deep Forest. The test mule was seen in red, white, and black, with the possibility of including the Deep Forest colour that was recently added to the 3-door Thar. There is also an expectation that more colour options might be available in the new 5-door version.

Mahindra 5-Door Thar: Feature Details

The Mahindra Thar 5-Door is expected to come with many exciting features, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital drivers display, wireless phone charging, and dual-zone climate control. It will also have cruise control, keyless entry, rear AC vents, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill hold and hill descent control, and front and rear parking sensors, among others. Additionally, it is likely to include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for extra safety.

Mahindra 5-Door Thar: Engine And Price Expectations

The Mahindra Thar 5-door will likely have familiar engine options, including a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Transmission options are expected to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. For drive options, it will offer both all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive configurations.

Regarding its price, the Mahindra Thar 5-Door is anticipated to start at around Rs 15 lakh and go up to Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Force Gurkha 5-door and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
