So, let's talk numbers. The pending orders for the Thar come in at the second highest, clocking in at approximately 59,000. It's quite popular among customers, consistently racking up about 7,000 bookings each month. However, there's been a bit of a dip compared to February, with a decrease of around 12,000 bookings.
So, while it's still in demand, you can anticipate a slight adjustment in the timeline for getting your hands on one. Customers can expect a decrease in the waiting period of about 1-2 months, depending on the variant you're after.
Mahindra XUV700, Scorpio N, And Scorpio Classic: Backlog Details In May
As of May 1st, the backlog for the Mahindra XUV700 stands at 16,000 units, a significant drop from its peak of about 35,000. On average, it's receiving around 8,000 bookings per month. Meanwhile, the Scorpio N and Classic models comprise the largest portion with 86,000 units. Together, they garner about 17,000 bookings monthly.
During Mahindra's latest quarterly press briefing for fiscal year 2024, they unveiled an impressive order backlog of 220,000 units. This backlog includes the recent addition of bookings for their newly launched XUV 3XO SUV, which garnered a staggering 50,000 orders within just one hour of its booking window opening. This surge in demand for the XUV 3XO significantly contributes to Mahindra's overall backlog.
Additionally, as of May 1, 2024, Mahindra's existing SUV lineup accounts for approximately 170,000 units. This indicates a strong market presence and continued customer interest in Mahindra's offerings.

Mahindra's Expansion Plans: Scaling Up Production Capacity
The company plans to increase both its internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) production. They aim to ramp up ICE production by 5,000 units and EV production by 10,000 units. By the end of the fiscal year 2025, their target is to hit a monthly production capacity of 64,000 units, a significant jump from the current 49,000 units.
Moreover, Mahindra is particularly keen on expanding its EV production. Looking ahead to the end of fiscal year 2026, they plan to further increase EV manufacturing by an additional 8,000 units per month. This push will bring their total production capacity to 72,000 units per month.
